Traumatic Stains Project INDY

Assalamu alaykum, im Hafsa : )

and writing my bio is hard.
Here i was thinking it would be easy to write a simple bio, but here i am 2 hours later and all i have is 2 less makeup drawers to tidy up, and a new photo open in photoshop. {Official site here:  www.gdsmedia.ca}

i love design, i love spreading out type on a poster, i love looking through the lens, photography, the sun, the rain, and moving colors. Photography is therapy for me. Wherever i go, my camera is always in hand.  i love what i do. Ive been doing photography for well over 7 years. I have a diploma in New Media Production and Design. AND i have a dream. i want to use the skills that i have to make a difference in the world. im one of those people that thinks ‘im going to change the world!!’ and then 2 months later im still drafting and thinking about how… FAIL. But lo and behold small steps do the trick. A young muslimah has some skill with a computer and a camera. she can do something or another right? kidding. Traumatic Stains was my Niche hero project idea after i attended Niche Hero with Muhammad Alshareef in July 2011.

I like inspiring. And being inspired. Photographically. Video-graphically (if thats a word). And That is my project. To bring young muslim women to heal their inner pain by inspiring them. Encouraging them to Share. to tell me what they see and feel. to display what happens inside. Enough with the ignorance! i keep telling myself that one day muslims around the world will stop being ignorant and learn to become aware of the the phycological roller coasters and illnesses that some of us suffer from, rather than slapping ‘bad character’ labels on us, and even worse, ‘bad muslims that dont trust in allah’. For of course, if we simply trusted Allah, we would never experience grief, depression or illness!

Others may not always see what i see in the frame, but ill let the lens do the talking. There are some, who in daily conversation, have skill with their words. i am not one of them. Photography is my passion, and i easily express my heart through it {perhaps negatively so}.
